Little Haiti’s existence was very much threatened by gentrification. With the support of the Haitian community, the official map of Little Haiti as per Miami City Commission was demarcated. Dr. Edvard was a key voice on Thursday, May 26, 2016 to get the Municipal Commission of Miami-Dade to unanimously vote  in favor of designating ‘Lemon City’ as ‘Little Haiti’ that ended a 16-year long effort over the idea of an official  Little Haiti.
